Sara & Conner’s Engagement Photos at Great Plains Nature Center in Wichita, Kansas
Sarah and Conner’s engagement session at Great Plains Nature Center was such a fun one to photograph.
They’re a fun and easygoing couple. Sarah is a teacher, Conner is an engineer, she likes swing dancing, and he’s really into cars, so it was fun getting to bring a little bit of their personalities into the session!
We did their engagement photos in March at Great Plains Nature Center in Wichita, Kansas. Since it was still early spring, everything was a little more brown from winter, but I loved how it looked in the photos. The tall grass and neutral colors gave everything a really soft and natural feel.
Engagement Photos at Great Plains Nature Center
Great Plains Nature Center is one of my favorite places for engagement photos in Wichita because there are so many different spots to use.
There are open fields, trees, ponds, bridges, and different trails throughout the area. A lot of the trails are paved too, which is really nice if it has rained recently.
Sometimes I even see deer, rabbits, and other wildlife while I’m out there! It’s just a really good place if you want that outdoor, natural Kansas vibe.
Their First Outfit
We started the session with Sarah in a long white dress and Conner in a white shirt with light jeans.
I really liked how the lighter outfits looked with the tall grass and the spring colors.
We walked around the trails and fields and did a mixture of posed photos and more natural moments. I’m always giving some direction during engagement photos, but I still want everything to feel like the couple and not super stiff.
Some of my favorite photos from this part of the session were them walking around, laughing!
Photos With Conner’s Car
Since Conner is really into cars, we also had to get some photos with his Mazda Miata. I always like when couples bring something into their engagement session that means something to them. It can be a car, a pet, a hobby, or really anything that makes the photos feel more personal.
Switching Things Up
Halfway through the session, they changed into something more casual.
Sarah wore light denim overalls with a black top, and Conner wore a black shirt with light jeans.
It gave the second half of the session a totally different look without even having to leave the location.
We did a lot more fun and playful photos during this part of the session, along with some closer portraits and, of course, some photos of Sarah’s ring.
One of My Favorite Wichita Locations
Sarah and Conner were so much fun to photograph, and I loved how much variety we were able to get at just one location!
From the white dress and tall grass to the denim outfits and even the Miata, the whole session felt relaxed and really fit them.
I also got to photograph their wedding this past July, which made it even more fun getting to look back at their engagement photos.
Great Plains Nature Center is definitely one of the places I recommend if you’re looking for outdoor engagement photos in Wichita, Kansas.
